Buffalo, N.Y. - The shop local event kicks off at the Buffalo Irish Center (245 Abbott Rd) at 5:00pm with a performance by Mt. Mercy Academy’s show choir, followed by a night of shopping at more than 30 participating businesses on Abbott Road, South Park Avenue and Seneca Street. A complimentary bus, sponsored by Councilmember Scanlon, continuously circulates the route for added convenience to shoppers. All participating businesses are running promotions and specials throughout the night.
The shopping ends at 9:00pm with an after party immediately following at the newly renovated Blackthorn Restaurant and Pub (2134 Seneca St). The party will feature live music, a Chinese auction and the winner of the Best Decorated Business Contest will be announced at 10pm.
“Shop South Buffalo was started with the intention of encouraging people to shop locally during the holidays and hopefully give our small businesses an economic boost,” said Scanlon. “It has succeeded at both, and has also provided South Buffalo with a platform to showcase our unique community. There are many great neighborhoods in Buffalo to shop in, and I think people are finally realizing that list includes South Buffalo.”
